Darjeeling, Aug 1 (UNI) BJP leader Raju Bista, who represents Darjeeling Lok Sabha seat, today wrote a letter to West Bengal forest minister Rajib Banerjee pointing out the "blatant discrimination against the minority youths from north Bengal " in the selection process for recuitment of "Bana Sahayaks" for the forests of northern districts of the state.
"I have requested the Forest Minister to kindly modify the notification and reissue the same, after due inclusion of the languages from North Bengal, and giving them the same weight and prominence in the selection procedure," he said.
Referring to the July 22 employment notification issued by the West Bengal Forest Department, Mr Bista alleged that the selection process for the 2000 posts under a new category called “Bana Sahakays” "makes it impossible for anyone who is unable to read or write Bengali" to clear the recruitment examination.
