Rajgir, Nov 27 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday launched the Gangs water supply scheme for the people of Rajgir to provide much-needed relief to the region facing an acute water crisis for long.
Kumar while launching the scheme at a function organised here, said that with the completion of the Ganga water supply project, the people of Rajgir would now get 135 litres of Ganga water per head per day. It would not only save all waterbodies of Rajgir but people would also have the access to safe drinking water which could also be used for other purposes like cleaning utensils, bathing and making their households hygienic, he added.
The Chief Minister said the state government had launched "Jal Jeevan Hariyali" mission in 2019 after taking the views of legislators of all political parties. Supply of Ganga water would continue under the "Jal Jeevan Hariyali" mission of the government, he added.
