Verification within 5 days for GST registration: Sushil Modi

Patna, Jul 4 (UNI) Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi on Saturday announced that verification for GST registration applied from July 1 will be done within 5 days.
Mr Modi who also holds finance portfolio, while addressing the offices of various divisions of commercial taxes and representatives of industries and business associations, said here that apart from verification within 5 days for the new GST registration those who applied for the same prior to July 1st would also be verified under special drives on regular intervals.
He said that at least 300 applications were being received every day for registration which according to the provision has to be cleared within 3 days.
Mr Modi said that the campus of 5626 registered business personal have been inspected of which 752 where found to be fake. He further said that even during lockdown 55 people got fake registrations done.
Mr Modi said that Rs 148 crore penalty was imposed for fake bill and circular trading under GST in the year 2018-19 whereas Rs 1075.96 crore penalty was imposed in 378 such cases in the year 2019-20.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that 37305 registrations were cancelled form not submitting GST details of more than past 6 months.
Action for cancellation of 17326 registrations were in process for not submitting GST details for the past 10 months, he informed.
Mr Modi said that relaxation have been given to those who could not submit their details from July 1, 2017 to January 31, 2020 and they have now been allowed to submit the same by September 30 this year .
