5th BGBS edition kicks off

Kolkata, Feb 7 (UNI) The inaugural plenary session of 5th edition of Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS) began with a short film on Bengal on Thursday.
Addressing the Summit, Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani said, “Last year, I said West Bengal is becoming Best Bengal and this is now coming true. GDP in Bengal is growing at the fastest rate among States in India.”
“Joy Bangla. Joy Biswa Bangla. Kolkatais not only City of Joy but City of Hope. What a tremendous growth in one year,” Mr Ambani said.
He said West Bengal's rise is good news for Eastern India.
"Reliance will be an unflinching partner of Bengal," he said.
“Today our investment stands at Rs 28,000 crore in West Bengal alone, one-tenth of our investment in India. We have planned a further investment of Rs 10,000 crore,” Mr Ambani said.
JSW Group's Chief Sajjan Jindal said,Mamata Banerjee is passionate about development. She has enthused the whole State to bring in more investment, more industry. West Bengal can become a trillion dollar economy by 2032.
Rajan Bharti Mittal, MD, Bharti Enterprises said Bengal is leading the resurgence in GDP growth, agriculture, education. West Bengal IS the destination for investment within India.
This Chief Minister is the best of all. She is not only the best but "Super-Se-Upar", said Niranjan Hiranandani, MD, Hiranandani Group.
“Her Energy has completed the land acquisition, has recently received permission to build a pipeline. The company aims to deliver gas to Haldia by 2022,” he said.
RP Sanjiv Goenka Group's ChairmanSanjiv Goenka said, “ We have invested Rs 23,000 crore in Bengal. It has been a fruitful investment. Mamat’s leadership is clear, visionary. Bengal is in business. Come and invest in Bengal
Lombardy and West Bengal will sign an MoU with special emphasis on manufacturing and industrial cooperation, Fabrizio Sala, Lombardy Vice-President and Minister for Research, Innovation, University, Export and Internationalization said in BGBS summit.
Kim Yung-rok, Governor of Jeollanam-do Province, South Korea said, “It is my belief that this summit will pave the way for a bright future. Jeollanam-do is looking forward to play a part.”
“Today we will sign two MoUs to promote economic cooperation to promote bilateral trade and cooperation,” he said.
I’m accompanied with a delegation comprising of 25 companies and institutions who would love to collaborate with India, especially withBengal, said Prof. Dr. Andreas Pinkwart, State Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy of North Rhine-Westphalia.
Earlier in a tweet , West Bengal Chief Minister said ,“I welcome all industry leaders, entrepreneurs and country representatives to @bengalsummit. 36 foreign delegations are attending#BGBS2019. This will be one of the biggest summits ever to draw investments in #Bengal#BengalMeansBusiness.”
Among those industry doyens like Reliance Industries' Chairman Mukesh Ambani, JSW Group's Chief Sajjan Jindal, Niranjan Hiranandani of the Hiranandani group and Rajan Bharti Mittal of the Bharti group, Future Group head Kishore Biyani, ITC's CEOSanjiv Puri, RP Sanjiv Goenka Group's Chairman Sanjiv Goenka, Ambuja Neotia Group's ChairmanHarshvardhan Neotia were attended the summit.
Bengal Global Business Summit witnessed significant overseas participation. Among the 36 participating countries are the UK, France, Czech Republic and South Korea.
