Kingston, Oct 2 (UNI) West Indies bowling legend Courtney Walsh has been named as head coach of West Indies women's team and will lead the preparation and development of the women’s team up until the end of 2022, Cricket West Indies said on Friday.
Walsh is the leading wicket-taker for West Indies in Tests, with 519 scalps in 132 matches. He has also taken 227 wickets in ODIs and was inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame in 2010.
Walsh has previously worked with as an assistant coach with Bangladesh men's team. He was also named as the interim coach of the West Indies women's team for their series against India last year. Additionally, he played a supporting role in their 2020 ICC Women's T20 World Cup campaign.
