2nd Test, Day 2: Ben Stokes unbeaten on 172, Eng 378-5 at Tea against Windies

Manchester, Jul 17 (UNI) All rounder Ben Stokes scored his 10th Test hundred (172* off 349) as England reached 378/5 at Tea, taking firm control of the second Test against West Indies at the Old Trafford on Friday.
Dom Sibley and Ben Stokes had played out a wicket-less first session, before West Indies struck twice in the second session to dismiss Sibley (120 off 372) and Ollie Pope (7 off 8)
At Lunch of Day 2, the hosts had reached 264-3 with Sibley and Stokes batting at the crease at their respective scores of 101 and 99.
Sibley, who reached his second test century before lunch, was eventually dismissed for 120, caught by Kemar Roach at deep mid-wicket off the bowling of Roston Chase.
Meanwhile, Stokes got to his 10th Test hundred in 255 balls, hitting 10 boundaries and a six in his 65th Test.
With this century, Stokes has found permanent place in the history books of cricket as he joined his batting partner Dom Sibley to score a hundred and become the second man to score an international hundred after the sport resumed following the enforced break due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
The all-rounder stitched a 260-run stand for the 4th wicket with opener Dom Sibley as the duo has put England on top in the 2nd Test.
At Tea, England look to be heading towards a strong total with Stokes looking set on 172 along with Jos Buttler on 12.
With five more wickets remaining, England would be eyeing the 500 mark.
For West Indies, Roston Chase picked four wickets while Alzarri Joseph picked one wicket.
Brief Scores: England 378/5 (Ben Stokes 172*, Dom Sibley 120; Roston Chase 4/106) vs West Indies
