TS Power utilities fully geared up to meet 17,000 MW load in new future: CMD

Hyderabad, Aug 15 (UNI) TSGENCO and TSTRANSCO Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) D. Prabhakar Rao on Monday stated that the TS Power Utilities are fully geared-up to meet the load up to 17,000 MW in near future.
Keeping in view of the rapid growth of Electric Vehicles in the state, power utilities are fully geared up to supply the required bulk power, said Prabhakar after hosting the national flag on the occasion of diamond Jubilee Independence day held at Vidyut Soudha here.
As part of the recently declared Telangana Electric Vehicle Policy, a separate consumer category for EV Charging Stations has been created, he said..
The Per-capita consumption of Telangana, which is an index of development of a state, which was 1196 in 2014 has increased to 2012 units at present, he said .the present Per Capita Consumption of Telangana is 73 percent more than National Per Capita Consumption of 1161 Units.
Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, he said TS Power utilities have met the highest peak demand of 14,160 Megawatts on March 29, 2022 and after formation of the state, an amount of Rs. 36,918 Crores has been invested in strengthening of Transmission and Distribution network in state.
For the first time in the history, 24 hours’ power is being supplied to 26.90 lakh agriculture pump sets from January 1, 2018 onwards in the state to end the despair of farmers, he said the contracted capacity has been increased from 7,778 MW as on June 2, 2014 to 17,333MW as on Aug 1, 2022 (more than the doubled capacity).
The CMD said that the Telangana Power utilities are in forefront in maintaining the Grid Discipline and are taking lead role in scrupulous implementation of Indian Electricity Grid Code (IEGC).
In an endeavour to become self-sufficient on power front, TSGENCO commissioned all the four units of Bhadradri Thermal Power Station (4x270MW = 1080MW) and the works at 5x800MW Yadadri Thermal Power Station are expedited., he said TSGENCO has created record by generating an all-time high quantum of hydel power during the FY 2021-22 wherein every hydel station has achieved 100% of the designed generation.
On this occasion, CMD said that the Telangana Power Sector has become a Role model in the country and appealed to all employees to rededicate for the betterment of the power sector with ultimate consumer satisfaction as the goal.
