BITS Pilani Hyderabad to support India's first Reusable sounding rocket Startup

Hyderabad, July 13 (UNI) Technology Business Incubator BITS Pilani Hyderabad to support India's first Reusable sounding rocket Startup.
With the need of many stakeholders’ engagement some of the Startups have been contributing immeasurably for sustenance with business prepositions.
Abyom is a Startup recognized by DPIIT with a mandate of developing the Reignition Liquid Engine, BITS Pilani said in a release here on Wednesday.
In particular, Abyom’s mandate is to build liquid propulsion rocket engine and testing system. Liquid propulsion rocket engines are widely used on space launch vehicles in comparison to solid phase propulsion engines and other engine types such as hypergolic engines and liquid hybrid engines.
The creation of this engine and testing system will create new opportunities for space science and also enable students to better pursue opportunities in the space and defence industry with newer avenues of exploration in terms of Engineering, Science, education and entrepreneurship journey.
This technology will be used to create India's first Reusable sounding rocket which will be beneficial in different areas such as Meteorology, AgriTech Data, and to conduct experiments in the D and E Atmospheres.
Mr Jainul Abedin (CEO & Founder of Abyom) informed that the journey started back in 2020, when he was invited by ISRO and suggested to start a venture with the vision of putting India on the World’s Indigenous Reusable & Reliable Space Launch, Infrastructure and Talent map.
Abyom wants to revolutionize the journey to explore outer space and has been recognized and appreciated for its contribution by ISRO, Indian central and state agencies at many forums of repute. We are happy to be supported by Technology Business Incubator BITS Pilani Hyderabad to explore light years beyond, he added.
The team's experience comes from its college years when it produced a variety of prototypes and tests, such as static solid motor tests, parachute ejection tests, and rockets that were launched in the USA for the Space Port America Cup to a height of 10,000 ft.
Prof G Sundar, Director BITS Pilani Hyderabad, said BITS Pilani Hyderabad has state of art infrastructure such as MEMS Clean room, Additive Manufacturing, High performance computing for simulation, Petrochemical labs, Remote engineering labs and many other supporting labs and research collaborations at the National and International level which may be important for ABYOM’s design & development of its idea to POC.
He also highlighted the support of resident mentors at Technology Business Incubator and BITS Pilani Hyderabad academic research community which enable’s further scope of research and development and bring more insight to the Startup journey.
Mr Prashant Sinha, Head TBI BITS Pilani Hyderabad, said the use of rockets like any other reusable aircraft is going to reduce space debris and also factor in the cost of the space mission.
The existing knowledge in Supercomputing, AI, ML, IoT, Material science, Electronics, and Aero science has made it even more conducive and supportive for space technology Startup to be more sustainable.
