PHDCCI hosts conference on defence modernization and next-gen ammunition

New Delhi, July 30 (UNI) PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted a grand Ammo Power Conference on the theme of ‘Building Ammunitions Ecosystem for Self-Reliant and Future Ready India’ in the National Capital. The event is intended to exchange insights into national defence preparedness and India’s stature in indigenous technologies.
PHDCCI emphasized organizing the event for a meaningful discussion on the integration of technology in the defence sector.
Sanjeev Kumar (secretary, defence production) who was also the guest of honour stressed the importance of becoming self-reliant in the domain of ammunition, stating the importance of the term in the current landscape. The secretary also highlighted the changing geopolitical situations in which many strategic friends are also engaged during the wars.
Ashok Wadhawan (joint president & head land system, Adani Defence), stressed the use of precision-guided ammunition to tackle the current warfare scenario.
“India faces threats from western and northern frontiers. We need to emphasize public-private collaboration in the defence sector and learn from Ukraine, Hamas, the Middle East, Europe, and the recent Indo-Pak tension.” Wadhawan added.
Sharing the army perspective, Air Marshal KAA Sanjeeb ( Director General (Systems), Indian Air Force) highlighted the data of the US Department of Defense regarding the usage of advanced ammunition in different countries.
The Air Marshal also highlighted some partnerships, including Russia and Israel for defense modernization, and urged a global reassessment of industrial readiness.
Lt. Gen. Amardeep Singh Aujla stated that the defence sector has become rigorously competitive and highlighted the importance of lateral, precise, and multifaceted targeting in wars.
Aujla also pointed towards the challenges faced by sectors, including information warfare, safety control in ammunition, budget & production capacity, quality checks, testing, and techniques. He also highlighted that DGQAS (Director General of Quality Assurance) is leading the charge.
