Healthcare firm Oxxy lines up health plans worth Rs 10,000 crore

New Delhi, Sep 21 (UNI) Targeting those with no health insurance cover or inadequate protection, healthcare firm Oxxy has lined up ultra affordable medical plans worth Rs 10,000 crore.
Claiming the plans to be the cheapest ever in the country, Oxxy said on Tuesday that the plans cover both ‘pre-existing diseases’ or ‘on-going treatment’.
The firm said that it may tie up with partner hospitals and with the help of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds keep the plans cheaper.
Oxxy said that it works closely to benefit customers of National Payment Corporation of India (NPCIL) that includes its arms RuPay and UPI, and with other leading banks and service providers.
Earlier, Oxxy had tied up with cab aggregator Uber to provide pick and drop services to patients for hospitals and diagnostic clinics.
Pankaj Gupta, Director Oxxy said, “A hospital stay averages about Rs 80,000 per patient for simple cases. For patients with more complications, the cost rises steeply and people are just not equipped to pay for the same. There is a need to secure people in medical crisis and reduce the overall medical cost substantially."
"Thus we have come up with an initiative to assist healthcare on this massive scale, probably the largest ever done by a private company,” he added.
In a statement, Oxxy noted that healthcare expenses are huge in the world as well as in India burning a deep hole in the patient's pocket.
"Experts say COVID is making it more difficult for people to afford health insurance. The premiums will rise for sure. In times like these, Oxxy has come up with an initiative helping everyone with the free health protection plan," it said.
