Odisha: RSP registers best ever Saleable Steel Production in Q1 of 2024-25

Bhubaneswar,July 4 (UNI) Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has registered excellent performance in many key production and techno-economic areas in the first quarter of the current fiscal 2024-25.
The Steel Plant produced 10,68,283 tonnes of Saleable Steel during April to June 2024 to record its best-ever performance in the area surpassing the previous best figure of 9,72,974 tonnes achieved in the corresponding period last year (CPLY).

The state-of-the-art Hot Strip Mill was a significant contributor, producing 6,03,851 tonnes of HR coils, marking its best Q1 performance ever.

In June 2024, RSP also achieved record monthly outputs in key production areas.

RSP sources said the Hot Metal production reached 3,77,792 tonnes, Crude Steel production was 3,42,966 tonnes, and Saleable Steel production hit 386,784 tonnes, all setting new benchmarks for June performance.

The plant’s excellent performance extended to dispatch, with a best-ever Q1 dispatch of 10,68,283 tonnes of saleable steel, reflecting a 10 percent growth over CPLY.

On the techno-economic front, RSP achieved its best Q1 specific energy consumption of 5.95 Giga Calories per tonne of crude steel, improving from the previous best of 6.0 GigaCalories per tonne set in the financial year 2022-23.

Also, June 2024 saw a specific energy consumption of 5.9 GigaCalories per tonne of crude steel, which is another record.

The other major highlights of June, 2024 include Best ever Monthly Blast Furnace 5 Coke Rate of 362 Kg per tonne of Hot Metal improving upon the previous best of 363 kg per tonne of Hot Metal achieved in July, 2018.

The Steel Plant also registered Best in India Torpedo Ladle campaign life of 3009 heats in June 2024.

RSP Director In-Charge Atanu Bhowmick in a message to the collective urged all for efficient planning and execution to sustain the momentum.
