Mumbai, Oct 12 (UNI) The BSE Sensex maintained its gaining streak intact for the eighth straight session on Monday as it advanced by 84.31 pts at 40,593.80 at close following gains in IT, Technology
and Health Care stocks
The nifty of national stock exchange too moved up by 16.75 pts at 11,930.95.
To increase the consumer demand, the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced measures -- LTC cash voucher scheme and Special Festival Advance Scheme.
She also issued an interest-free 50-year loan amounting to Rs 12,000 crore to states for capital expenditure.
States will have to spend the money before March 31.
Though the market remained volatile, it ended in green only.
As the Sensex moved up by 207 pts to open at 40,716.95. It spurted by 396 pts to 40,905.49, days high before closing at 40,593.80, up by 84.31 pts from its previous close.
It was slumped by 122 pts to 40,387.40, days low.
The sensex registered days high and low at 40,905.49 and 40,387.40 pts respectively.
The Nifty recorded days high and low at 12,022.05 and 11,867.20 pts respectively.
The sectoral indices that went up were ITC, Infosys, Asian Paints and Power stocks.
The indices that fell were Bharti Airtel, ONGC, HDFC Bank and IndusInd Bank.
The Mid Cap fell by 0.48 pc and Small Cap by 0.40 pc.
In 30 scrips, 18 advanced while 12 declined.
