Indian Oil's LPG bottling plant in Agartala

Agartala, Aug 9 (UNI) Indian Oil Corp (IOC) has formally made functional its first Greenfield LPG bottling plant at Agartala to cater to the state’s demand till 2040, Union Minister of State for Women Empowerment and Social Justice Pratima Bhoumik said on Tuesday.
She said three northern districts of Tripura have been getting regular LPG supply from Assam’s Silchar bottling plant. The IOC invested Rs 169.11 crore to create the facility and there will invest more in Tripura along with other north-eastern states to make the region self-dependent in petroleum products.
“Except Agartala, pipeline cooking gas supply network to the kitchen has not yet been created in other parts of the state. As a result, a large number of households depend on LPG cylinders. The CNG network has also not been extended to the whole of Tripura resulting in the dependency of vehicles on IOC for petrol and diesel."
According to IOC officials, the plant has a capacity of 60,000 tonnes per annum and can bottle 17,000 cylinders every day, including commercial supplies. It is designed to store 1,350 tonnes in leak proof mounded bullets of LPG, which will cater to the demand of entire Tripura.
