SBI Magnum Children’s Benefit Fund with lock in & proper allocation can yield higher returns for Child’s future

Kolkata, Sep 16 (UNI) Mutual funds are the most sought-after investment avenues to achieve long-term financial goals.
Investment planning for a child should be inclusive of all the expenses since conception to higher studies.
According to Manoj Sinha, SVP & Zonal Head Head -East, SBI Mutual Fund, the first step in having systematic financial planning for a child is to create a separate portfolio for the child.
He stressed that it is always wise to start early as the amount of SIP payable per month will be less if one starts early investments.
Arun Laddha, Head, ICC Sub Committee on Capital Markets mentioned that periodic withdrawals of funds should be discouraged so that the benefits are not lowered.
Manoj Sinha also discussed that long term investments could mitigate risks.
He explained the importance of choosing an option in sync with risk-reward expectations.
In today’s era, there is around 10% inflation in educational expenses. It is best to set plans keeping the inflation rate in mind.
Equity, as an asset class, has a long term track record of returning real returns above inflation.
R. Srinivasan, Head -Equity Investment, SBI Mutual Fund, opined that SBI Magnum Children’s Benefit Fund, is a strategic investment plan in front of parents.
This fund invests at least 65 per cent in domestic stocks, and the remaining portion will get allocated to international equities (maximum up to 35 per cent) and gold exchange-traded funds (up to 20 per cent).
Srinivasan said the equity portion of the fund will continue to execute like a multi-cap scheme.
The most significant advantage of the plan is since the scheme’s debt component would be restricted to just 35 per cent, which would be managed conservatively, it would yield higher returns for the investor.
Though there are two variants of the scheme– equity and debt-oriented it also aims to benefit from investing across asset classes; a strategy that has proved beneficial in recent times.
