Telangana govt planning for massive urban reforms to benefit Industry, Citizens : Minister

Hyderabad, Aug 21 (UNI) Telangana IT and Industry Minister K T Rama Rao has said that the state government is planning for massive urban reforms to benefit Industry and citizens along with a call for launch of first of its Kind Green Space Index for Urban Local Bodies (ULBs).
Confederation of Indian Industry organized a Virtual Conference on "Telangana's Real Estate & Infra Prospects in the COVID World" with the theme To Rise up to the New Normal on Friday on a Webex Platform.
The objective of the Conference was to create a roadmap for relooking at its Real Estate and Infrastructure development priorities in the COVID new normal scenario.
Addressing the conference, Mr Rao said that Hyderabad has been rated as one of the most dynamic cities in the world and it is the largest office space absorber in the country.
In the next decade, the state government would invest heavily in the infrastructure sector, he added.
Telangana Government is planning to come up with IT Park in Kompally region and also in Uppal region of Hyderabad and also integrated townships.
As part of Haritha Haram, the State Government is promoting plantation in a big way and is also planning to launch Green Space Index for 141 towns and cities in Telangana.
He appreciated the work of CII in promoting Green Buildings and asked if the latter could develop the CII Green Space Index model.
Mr Rao also asked home grown builders to rise the bar with regard to quality standards and labour welfare interventions.
Mr Krishna Bodanapu, Chairman, CII Telangana & Managing Director, Cyient Limited complimented the efforts of Government of Telangana on allowing the infrastructure sector to continue the operations amid lockdown and Covid challenges.
Hyderabad has always proven to be the most resilient city in India, with more and more companies investing in the city which gives a lot of hope, pride and confidence of getting growth back.
The proactive and transparent government policies enabled the state to grow faster, Mr Bodanapu said.
Mr Ramesh Nair, Managing Director, JLL India said that amid Covid situation, still India is the third largest economy in the world behind US and China on purchasing power parity basis.
India’s growth is estimated to grow 9.5 per cent nominal GDP in the next 10 years, he added.
India is likely to have the second largest middle class segment by 2030. The FDI inflow in 2020 is going to be the highest and close to 1.4 trillion dollars of projects have been drawn up under the National infrastructure pipeline.
The IT industry is expected to become 350 billion dollars by 2025 against the current 190 billion dollars, he added.
During the conference a report on Hyderabad Real Estate- A Road map amid the COVID-19 Crisis was released.
