Odisha to promote micro food processing units under one district one product scheme

Bhubaneswar, Sep 01 (UNI) Odisha government will promote micro food processing units in the state under the One District one Product scheme of the central government.

The state government has chosen the MSME department as the nodal department, Director of Industries as the nodal Officer and APICOL as the nodal agency for implementation of the scheme.

Official sources here said the scheme would provide assistance to the unorganized enterprises in micro food processing sectors and promote the value chain on the basis of one district one product.

Sources said the state has received Rs 2.31 crore from the central government in the first phase to provide loan and subsidies to eligible micro food processing units.

Provision has been made to provide loan of Rs 40,000 to members of SHG as the initial capital and maximum loan of Rs 10 lakh to individual units.

The MSME department has provided Rs 30 lakh to each district in advance for the implementation of the scheme. OUAT has been selected as the nodal agency for imparting training for the capacity building of the personnel of units.

As per the decision while Angul, Boudh, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Nabarangpur, Subarnapur and Sundergarh have been selected for fruit based products.

Balasore, Bhadrak and Ganjam have been selected for fish products while Kalahandi and Bolangir for banana processing and Cuttack and Jagatsinghpur district for milk products.

Similarly, Deogarh has been identified for orange processing units, Jharsuguda and Sambalpur for chili powder, Kandhamal for turmeric, Koraput for ginger, Kendrapara and Puri for coconut processing units.

Gajapati District has been identified for pine apple, Rayagada for Tamarind, Nayagarh for sugarcane, Mayurbhanj for honey, Khordha for mushroom and Nuapada and Malkangiri for millet processing units, official sources here said.
