CII-IGBC announces 19th Edition of Green Building Congress 2021

Kolkata, Nov 15(UNI) The Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) will host the 19th edition of ‘Green Building Congress’ on 18, 19 & 20 November 2021 on a virtual program.
In line with the times, the theme for this year is ‘Net Zero Buildings & Built Environment’. World
Green Building Council (WorldGBC) is a supporting partner for this flagship event, that has a global network of around 70 countries leading the transformation of the built environment, to make it
healthier and more sustainable.
This conference offers delegate, a unique opportunity to learn about international best practices in green buildings & Net Zero concepts from more than 80 eminent National & International speakers on these 3 days, free visit to interactive Virtual exhibition, displaying more than 500 Green Products & Technologies and can avail the facility for B2B meetings.
In this regard, Shakuntala Ghosh, Chairperson, IGBC Kolkata chapter said,” We are witnessing a global movement that emphasises the need to be Net zero by 2050 and developing countries such as India will have a key role to play in this mission. Green Buildings are a huge opportunity to reduce carbon emissions. Action taken by stakeholders to encourage and operate green buildings will become a competitive edge. Other interesting topics to be covered during the Congress include Net Zero - Energy, Water, Waste & Carbon, Climate Change, Sustainable Architecture, Health & Well-being, Green and smart Cities, Energy & Water Efficiency, Retrofitting Green & Existing Buildings, Green Products & Technologies."
Sushil Mohta, Co-Chair, IGBC Kolkata Chapter further added that West Bengal has been one of the fastest growing states in terms of green building projects in eastern India. The awareness among the public has now spread beyond the boundaries of Kolkata, into other districts and suburbs. Overall, West Bengal has around 480 IGBC Green building projects today. Few landmark IGBC green projects in the state are the New Town Kolkata, Howrah Railway Station, Godrej Platinum, Sugam Homes, Primark Astitva and many other residential, commercial, industrial, transit & institutional establishments.
IGBC was established by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in 2001, with a vision ‘to enable sustainable built-environment for all’. CII has been facilitating wider adoption of green building concepts by working closely with all stakeholders from the government & private sector, in advancing the green building movement in the country. With a Green Building footprint of 7.97 billion sq ft, and with over 7,002 projects adopting CII-IGBC’s 29 rating systems, the Green Building movement in India has been advancing at a rapid pace and transforming India, into one of the global leaders in green built environment.
Shakuntala Ghosh and Sushil Mohta urged all the developers, architects, engineers, consultants, students, Govt. organizations & corporates to attend the Green Building Congress and learn ways to lead an environment-friendly lifestyle by reducing one’s individual carbon footprint and take Green Building Movement further.

JDL’s two other offerings, Roulette London Dry Gin and Paul John XO Brandy, have also won ‘Silver’ medals. JDL is the only Indian company to have been awarded in three different categories: whiskey, gin, and brandy.
