New Delhi, Oct 28 (UNI) The country's largest carrier IndiGo on Thursday reported a net loss of Rs 1,435.7 crore for July-September quarter (Q2) of FY22 as against Rs 1,194.8 crore in the corresponding period last year.
The budget carrier saw its revenue from operations rising 104.6% in the second quarter to Rs 5,608.5 crore as more passengers took to the skies with the lockdown restrictions easing and wider coverage of vaccine.
With gradual opening of the lockdown and higher demand for air travel, the airline's operational performance improved. It saw higher flight occupancy and better yields during the period.
Total income of the airline for the quarter ending September 2021 was Rs 5,798.7 crore, an increase of 91.4% over the same period last year.
The airline's passenger ticket revenues for the quarter were Rs 4,716.3 crore, an increase of 113.6% and ancillary revenues were Rs 817 crore, an increase of 61.4% compared to the same period last year.
Commenting on the results, airline CEO Ronojoy Dutta, “We are encouraged by the pace of revenue recovery. We continue to work towards return to profitability in order to strengthen our balance sheet. With a modern fleet, dedicated employees and a stronger economic environment we are well positioned to leverage all the growth opportunities around us.”
IndiGo had a total cash balance of Rs 16,553.9 crore comprising Rs 6,351.6 crore of free cash and Rs 10,202.3 crore of restricted cash as of September 30, 2021.
