State GST collection increase by 67 per cent

Shimla, July 1(UNI) State collection from Good and Service Tax recorded increase of 67 per cent in the first quarter of this financial year.
According to spokesperson of the State Tax and Excise Department, there has been an increase of 67 percent in the Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection in the first quarter of the financial year. In comparison to the collection of Rs 831 crore in the last financial year, Rs 1385 crore has been collected in tax this time.
There is an increase of 58 percent in the revenue collection in June 2022 as compared to the corresponding month of the previous financial year. Rs 235 crores GST was collected in June 2021, while Rs 372 crores GST has been collected in June 2022. According to the department, this increase has been possible due to the improvement in tax payment compliance among the taxpayers and various administrative and policy efforts.
