Centre releases Rs 6,000 cr to 16 states, 3 UTs for GST Compensation cess shortfall

New Delhi, Nov 2 (UNI) The government on Monday released Rs 6000 crore as second tranche to
16 states and three Union Territories under its 'Special Window to States' or meeting the GST Compensation Cess shortfall.
The states are : Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.
Th UTs are : Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir and Puducherry.
An official spokesman said 21 states and three UTs have till date opted for the Special Window under Option 1.
The amount which was raised at a weighted average yield of 4.42 percent, will be passed on to the States and UTs at the same interest rate, the spokesman said.
The Finance Ministry has facilitated loans of Rs 12,000 crore till date under the Special Window to
States/UTs.
The loans raised by the Centre are released on a back-to-back basis in lieu of GST Compensation Cess releases.
