Reforms on; more steps on anvil: Sitharaman

New Delhi, Nov 24 (UNI) The government is taking steps to keep the reform agenda in order and the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Package has opened up even niche sectors such as space and nuclear energy to foreign investors, says Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
The reformed momentum has continued, even in the midst of the pandemic and headwinds to growth have exacerbated, and "will continue in the future as well," she said.
Several measures such as professionalisation of the financial sector and thrust on disinvestments were taken up to keep the reforms on, she added.
"We will have to make sure that policies are right to make India an attractive investment destination,” Ms Sitharaman said, adding that an effective, unified single window will be made available for FDI proposals.
Officials said such a system would be in place by the end of the financial year.
The Minister was addressing the National MNCs Conference 2020 organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) here on Monday.
Ms Sitharaman said the government has been working towards ensuring a facilitative environment for the MNCs operating out of India.
And encouraged by there government’s thrust on reforms and reduced taxation rates, several Sovereign Funds have expressed interest in partnering with the Government on its National Infrastructure Pipeline.
Also, as part of its reforms agenda, the government is ensuring the setting up of dedicated Special Manufacturing Zones for the production of pharma, medical devices and APIs in six States. Effective unified single window mechanism is part of these zones, she said.
