PMC Bank Fraud: Bombay HC rejects Rakesh Wadhawan's bail plea

PMC Bank Fraud: Bombay HC rejects Rakesh Wadhawan's bail plea

Mumbai, Oct 14 (UNI) The Bombay High Court Thursday rejected bail plea of Rakesh Wadhawan in relation to PMC Bank fraud case.

Wadhawan, who is founder of Housing Development Infrastructure Limited, was arrested on charges of money laundering in the multi-crore Punjab and Maharashtra Co-operative (PMC) Bank fraud case.

Cases were registered against him by the Enforcement Directorate and the Economic Offences Wing of the Mumbai Police.

Wadhawan had moved the high court seeking transfer from KEM hospital to a private hospital, as the former lacked cardiac care facility.

However, the public prosecutor said release of Wadhawan to shift him to a private hospital is unnecessary as KEM was setting up a cardiac facility within a week's time.

Earlier, counsel for Wadhawan submitted that his client needed a permanent pacemaker implantation, which would help him recover from the ailment.

However, the public prosecutor argued that the appellant could be very well treated in JJ Hospital as it had all necessary facilities.
