Visaka Industries acquires 20 years of patent rights for ATUM-integrated solar roof division

Hyderabad, Aug 27 (UNI) Visaka Industries, one of the largest manufacturers of cement roofing sheets in the country, on Thursday announced that it has acquired 20 years of patent rights for ATUM - integrated solar roof division.
The patent has been granted for the invention titled Eco-Friendly Energy Generating Roof, the company said in a release here.
ATUM has been addressing coal-based power production by providing solutions for sectors like affordable housing, net-zero industries, and commercial establishments.
Commenting about achieving this milestone, Visaka Industries Joint Managing Director Vamsi Gaddam, said, “The invention Atum – The world’s first solar roof that generates power is an idea I have been worked upon from 2016 onwards, filed for patent in March 2017 following which there were several hearings against global citations and we had to validate and make a point regarding the innovation of ATUM.
ATUM is a roof that generates electricity and it is a completely integrated, seamless solar roof made with poly or mono-crystalline solar cells and cement boards - a highly durable roofing material making it world’s first solar panel which can be directly used as a roof.
Atum generates 20- 40 per cent more power compared to the traditional solar roofs.
We are delighted to receive the patent for our innovative solution - ATUM - integrated solar roof. This makes it India`s first Eco-Friendly Energy Generating Roof and further strengthens our vision to Innovate Sustainability, he added.
