China to cut negative list on foreign investment, Xi says market open to all

New Delhi/Beijing, Apr 20 (UNI) President Xi Jinping on Tuesday announced further cut in the negative list on foreign investment and said all are welcome to share the vast opportunities of the Chinese market.
Xi also said China will "actively" participate in multilateral cooperation in trade and investment and contribute to building a "new higher-level open economic system."
China, he said, will fully implement the Foreign Investment Law and its supporting rules and regulations.
Xi made the remarks while delivering a keynote speech via video at the opening ceremony of the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2021.
The Forum is billed as an alternative to the World Economic Forum in Davos. Leaders of other countries, such as South Korean President Moon Jae and Indonesian President Joko Widodo, have been invited to join the annual forum held in China's southern island province of Hainan, according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
This year's conference is themed "A World in Change: Join Hands to Strengthen Global Governance and Advance Belt and Road Cooperation."
In his address, Xi also pledged to deepen international cooperation in the areas of artificial intelligence and biomedicine to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus.
He committed to making efforts to tackle climate change.
