Arunachal endeavouring to transform into a business hub in hydrocarbons & mining sector, says minister Mosang

Itanagar, Sep 25 (UNI) The state government of Arunachal Pradesh has been endeavouring to transform the state into a business hub in the area of hydrocarbons and mining sector, said Geology and Mining Minister Kamlung Mosang while attending a plenary session titled ‘E&P Investment Opportunities in North Eastern Region’ at Guwahati on Friday.
“Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Pema Khandu, we are endeavouring to transform the state of Arunachal Pradesh to business hub in the area of hydrocarbons & mining sector,” Mosang said while dwelling upon the various issues pertaining to exploration and mining of huge deposits of mineral resources in the Himalayan state.
Organized by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Govt of India to showcase upstream oil & gas opportunities in NER, the session was chaired by Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union MoS for Petroleum and Natural Gas Rameswar Teli, and Ministers from other NE states took part in the event.
“Arunachal Pradesh has immense potential for hydrocarbon resources,” Mosang said. He, however, added that most of the hydrocarbon-bearing areas still remain unexplored.
“These resources require systematic investigations, use of latest technologies and significant capital investment to transform them into producing properties while maintaining the ecological balance which we have preserved over generations,” he said.
Calling upon the investors to actively participate in upcoming bidding rounds and become part of development of Arunachal Pradesh, Mosang said the outlook of E&P (exploration and production) business in NE region, particularly Arunachal “is indeed promising”.
He informed that the Govt of Arunachal Pradesh has been planning to set up a dedicated service provider hub in the state to support the requirement of oil and natural gas/mining industry in collaboration with the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and Directorate General of Hydrocarbons, Govt of India.
