New tourist attractions at Tajpur & Shankarpur

Kolkata, Nov 09 (UNI) After Digha and Mandarmani, Tajpur and Shankarpur too are going to get Biswa Bangla Parks, courtesy the State Tourism Department.
The parks, according to department officials, would increase the tourist footfalls at these places by several times, as has been achieved in Digha and Mandarmani.
The parks would be located by the sea, alongside Saikat Sarani, the promenade for tourists connecting Digha, New Digha, Mandarmani, Shankarpur and Tajpur.
The parks would have chairs with roofing. As décor, in going with being seaside places, the parks would have models of creatures like dolphin and octopus made out of concrete, along with fishes at the entrance.
Beautiful lighting, artificial mounds, fancy fountains would also embellish the parks. There would watchtowers too to look after the security of tourists.
In Shankarpur, the banks of the canal beside the sea have been concretised; a small bridge would be built connecting the banks.
For the beautification of the two places, a total of Rs 14 crore has been allotted by the State Government – Rs 7.5 crore for Tajpur and Rs 6.5 crore for Shankarpur.
