New show on Sony ‘Jaat ki Jugni" seeks to break stereotypes present in society

New show on Sony ‘Jaat ki Jugni

By Sanya Pandey New Delhi, Mar 25 (UNI) Continuing the trend of television shows mirroring the reality of Indian society, a new show on Sony entertainment television seeks to break stereotypical notions prevalent in Haryana regarding love marriages. Sony entertainment's new RomCom "Jaat ki Jugni" chooses a lighter way to highlight the issue through the love story of a Haryanvi couple. In an interaction with UNI, the male lead of the show Vishal Vashisht said,’’Somewhere deep down the line, we have chosen a lighter way to break the stereotypes that are prevalent in Haryana. We hope the audience will understand the concept of our programme. Out attempt is to ensure that our audience get entertained when they switch on their TV sets, and alongwith that they should also get the message that let the youth of our country to let them be, let them enjoy, let them choose their life.’’ ‘Jaat Ki Jugni’ is the love story of a Jat played by Vishal Vashishtha (Bittu) and Munni, played by actress Madirakshi Mundle. The story is about a village in Haryana where Munni lives with her three brothers. Her three brothers are Dabangg characters and are extremely possessive of their only sister. Since childhood, Munni loves Bittu but their families are at war. Vishal who is playing the role of Bittu, clarified that "Jaat ki Jugni" is not a TV adaption of 90s Bollywood drama 'Anari', in which Karisma Kapoor played 'Rajnandini' and Venkatesh as 'Rama'. "I have seen Anari a lot of times, but the serial is not a TV adaption of the movie. Rama is a subtle, down to earth kind of character very innocent. Bittu is innocent, but not subtle. He is larger than life, he is aggressive. Bittu has this view that love should complete its notion, its should have its end, the deserved end. His life goals are to spread love everywhere," Vishal said. The lead actress of the show Madirakshi Mundle said,"Munni is almost similar to Rajnandini, but the family is different. Rajnandini had three brothers. Munni too has three brothers. However, Rajnandini’s parents are not similar to that of Munni. Munni is a soft spoken girl, who never cries, and has limited friends. She is a very pampered child who doesn't do any sort of household chores." Talking about the preparations and challenges faced by them to get into the skin of the character, Vishal said,"I prepared for the Haryanvi language from my father. Though he is a Rajasthani, he has some roots and friends from Haryana, so he knows the Haryana's dialect. Also, I watched movies of Randeep Hooda, listened to his interviews, the way he talks. Also I saw the movie Lal Rang.. and all these things were quite helpful.’’ Madirakshi, who earlier played 'Sita' from 'Siya ke Ram', said playing Munni was challenging for her since she had to remove the pure Hindi that she had got used to for her role in ‘Siya Ke Ram’ and speak Haryanvi. ‘’It was challenging for me because of the Hindi language that got on my tongue as when I played Sita, and to remove that and speak Haryanvi was a difficult task for me. The second challenge was a transition from a saree to a patiala suit," she said. Madirakshi, who started her career with South Indian movies said she never planned acting but that it just happened. "I never planned acting, it just happened because of the destiny. It was destiny that I worked in South Indian movies. I never actually planned it. And then 'Siya ke Ram' happened. Right now I am focusing on Munni as I believe to live in the present so there are no future prospects in my mind right now,"she said. On trying his luck in Bollywood, Vishal said,"Bollywood will happen when it has to happen. Right now, I am working on myself. When I think I am good enough to try my luck in Bollywood, I will definitely do it, not necessarily under the banner of Bollywood but something in the digital media.’’ He said that his big screen idol is American actor Al Pacino and Bollywood heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor Madirakshi said she idolises Madhuri Dixit and Rani Mukherjee. ‘Jaat Ki Jugni’, produced by Rashmi Sharma and directed by Pawan Kumar, also stars Yash Tonk, Rinku Dhawan, Richa Soni, Arya Dharamchand Kumar and Amit Pachauri.
