Nepotism causes defeat of NDA and Congress candidates in byelections

Patna, Oct 24 (UNI) Nepotism takes a toll on the performance of NDA and Congress candidates in by elections to five assembly seats in Bihar.
JD (U), a major ally of NDA instead of posing its faith in the capability of dedicated workers pinned its hope on relatives of the party leaders who had emerged victorious in the last Lok Sabha election. It annoyed workers in the process playing a good role in the defeat of JD (U) candidates in the by elections.
In Belhar assembly constituency, JD (U) had given ticket to Laldhari Yadav, brother of Girdhari Yadav, who was elected to Lok Sabha in the last general election but he was defeated by RJD candidate Ramdeo Yadav.
Similarly, former MLA and JD (U) MP Kavita Singh`s husband was made party candidate from Daraundha assembly constituency but she was defeated by rebel BJP leader and Independent candidate Karanjit Singh alias Vyas Singh.
In yet another glaring example, BJP`s state working committee member and former MLA Sikandar Singh`s wife Sweety Singh was given ticket in Kishanganj assembly constituency but she was defeated by AIMIM candidate Qamrul Hoda. Ms Singh had unsuccessfully contested election in last state assembly election on BJP ticket.
Similarly, Congress fielded former union minister Baleshwar Ram`s son and MLA Dr Ashok Ram from Samastipur Lok Sabha constituency and former MLA and MP Dr Javed Azad`s mother Sayeeda Bano but both candidates were defeated.
