Nepal to propose power swap deal with India during PM Oli's visit

Kathmandu, Apr 2 (UNI) Nepal is planning to sell surplus electricity to India and the issue is likely to figure in talks Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will have during his visit to New Delhi later this week.
Nepal will have surplus electricity during the wet season once the 456MW Upper Tamakoshi hydropower project comes up by the end of this year.The country's energy ministry is hoping to sell the surplus electricity to India for cash.
The ministry is also toying with the option of “power banking”, if the “determining the price of electricity becomes an issue”, reports the Kathmandu Post.

Melbourne, Sep 21 (UNI/Sputnik) Australia’s Victoria state police arrested 62 protesters for "criminal conduct" on Tuesday after a crowd of around 2,000 flooded the streets of Melbourne to protest COVID-19 restrictions, police commissioner Shane Patton said.
