NEFIP demands implementation of UNDRIP in NE states

Shillong, May 1 (UNI) The North East Forum for Indigenous People (NEFIP) on Wednesday resolved to demand from the central government to implement the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) in all North Eastern states.
“We have decided to discuss to approach the central government to implement UNDRIP to further safeguard the rights and interest of the indigenous people," NEFIP convenor Ningthouja Lancha told reporters here on Wednesday.
NEFIP is a conglomeration of several north east pressure groups from across the northeastern states.
