Chandigarh, May 20 (UNI) Aam Aadmi Party MLA and Leader of Opposition in Punjab Assembly Harpal Singh Cheema on Monday accused the Election Commission (EC) of granting a clean chit to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the alleged serious Model Code of Conduct violations, stating that the act had earned widespread ignominy.
In a statement here, the AAP leader said the disgraceful act had denigrated the stature of great institution, touted to be a formidable and impartial poll monitor in the country.
He accused the EC of playing as a pawn in the hands of those in the saddle, caring two hoots for the established tenets of democracy.
