Need to improve last mile connectivity to disseminate forecasts to users: Harsh Vardhan

New Delhi, Sep 19 (UNI) Union Minister for Science & Technology and Earth Sciences, Dr Harsh Vardhan, today stressed the need to improve the last mile connectivity to disseminate the weather forecasts and advisories to the users.
Addressing senior officers, directors and scientists from Institutes in a day-long brainstorming session for the Ministry of Earth Sciences here, quoting an example, the Minister said under the National Monsoon Mission around 19.4 million farmers were benefiting from agro meteorological information through sms and have contributed to around Rs 50,000 cr annually to India's GDP.
