Need strong Vendor Base and Good Supply Chain Management for Indian Rlys growth: SCR GM

Hyderabad, Jan 24 (UNI) South Central Railways (SCR) General Manager Gajanan Mallya on Friday emphasised for regular interaction with vendors for new developments in procurement eco-system, and the need for a strong vendor base and good supply chain management system for the consistent growth and progress of Indian Railways.
Addressing at the Meet for indigenisation and vendor development, organized by SCR, here, Gajanan said there is an annual procurement of material worth more than Rs 1000 crore by SCR which needs a strong base of vendor system to meet the requirements of smooth operation, maintenance and manufacture.
He also stressed the need for ease of doing business in accordance with Make in India policy pursued by Government of India.
Welcoming the gathering, SCR Principal Chief Materials Manager V R Mishra said that the main objective of this vendor meet is to have face-to-face interaction with the vendors on the various aspects of procurement system.
Indian Railways has completely switched over to end to end on-line procurement system duly incorporating features of Reverse Auction, on-line Bill payment, payments through letter of Credit for transparent, efficient and effective system, he added.
During his speech, SBI General Manager expressed that SBI is proudly associated with the Indian Railways, and especially with SCR and introduced several Initiatives for the benefits of the Organization.
SCR Additional General Manager B B Singh, SBI General Manager (Hyderabad) V Ramesh and other officials participated in the meet.
