Need for 'zero tolerance' towards graft to realise India of Bhagat Singh's dreams : Kejriwal

New Delhi, Jul 2 (UNI) Claiming that his government has effected zero tolerance towards corruption, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today said there was need to implement such a policy to realise the India of Bhagat Singh's dreams. Speaking at the book release function of "Bhagat Singh's:Jail Note Book: Its context and relevance" here, the Delhi Chief Minister said in order to launch crackdown on corrupt officials , his government would go to the extent of sending them even behind bars. Describing Singh as an inspiration to the younger generation, he said,''We have to analyse whether we have achieved the Bharat of his dreams. I think we have not reached even the ten per cent mark even after independence.'' Claiming that to break the cycle of corruption, AAP government had introduced zero tolerance towards graft, Mr Kejriwal said ,''There are people who boast that we will bring the change, but none hardly does because to change the system, one requires to make sacrifices. During Anna movement, the nation spoke in one voice and rallied around one man who promised ''change''. The electorate gave AAP full majority in 2015 elections to bring about this change but this is not sufficient. Merely changing parties will not alter the system because the ''character'' does not change.Today if we have an understanding with the power companies and practice graft, then there would be just no problem in the city and the cycle of corruption will continue. To break this cycle of corruption, we have introduced , zero tolerance towards graft.'' Cuting an example of his government's zero tolerance to graft, the chief minister said,'' During my 49 days rule, a minister was found to be involved in corruption. I immediately sacked him and set a precedent. '" Charging the Modi government of putting hurdles in his government's drive against corruption, he said, ''On June 8, 2015 , the Centre sent para-military forces and physically captured our Anti-corruption Bureau just because we launched a drive against corruption. But this Anna drive will continue and we will not be deterred. '' Releasing the book, Mr Kejriwal congratulated the editor of the book Harish Jain for bringing out a compilation of extracts of the revolutionary's notes. The Chief Minister said,''Freedom fighter Bhagat Singh is and will remain an inspiration to the younger generation. He was more dreadful to the British empire in his death than he was alive . His revolutionary ideas spread like a fragrance in the society intoxicating the youth to dismantle the roots of the British colonialism from our beloved country and bringing out a book on him was a path breaking idea.He was not a just a fighter but an avid reader, a par excellence writer and a philosopher all rolled into one.'' '' I urge youth to read this book. I will ensure that the book is available in all libraries,''Mr Kejriwal said . He said he felt honoured to having being invited for the release of such an enlightening and historic book that will make an utterly interesting read. Speaking about the book its editor, Harish Jain Said,'' After much research , I have compiled and edited the book. Such a book on Bhagat Singh where his hand written excerpts are printed is not available in India till now anywhere. The book besides shedding light on his life also discusses in detail his thinking and his ideas and goals in life. It is a comprehensive book and a must read for nation lovers.'' UNI SY/AR PR 2239
