Chandigarh, Oct 30 (UNI) Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan of India, pairing with Adil Shamasdin of Canada overcame a second set tough resistance from Chinese duo of Jie Cui and Hao Wu in doubles first round fixture in straight sets 6-0, 7-6 (1) in 61 minutes in the $ 135,400 Shenzhen Longhua ATP Challenger (China). The winners moved into quarter-final.
The third seeded Indo-Canadian pair won four of six break points and kept their first service 74 per cent in. They served three aces and did not commit any double fault. Cui-Wu pair served three aces and committed two double faults while their first service was 76 per cent in. They saved two out of six break points and won one of one break point.
Nedunchezhiyan-Shamasdin were in complete command in the first set which they won without droppoing even a single game. They break their opponents in the second, fourth and six games for a 6-0 verdict.
Cui-Wu put up an improved performance in the second set despite trailing 0-3 in the seond set. However, they hit back and broke Nedunchezhiyan-Shamasdin in the fifth game to reduce the margin to 2-3 and went on to hold their service to make it 3-3. Thereafter the set progressed with the serve. Tied six-all tie-breaker rule was applied and Nedunchezhiyan-Shamasdin raced to comfortable 6-1 win for a 7-6 verdivt to wrap up the match.
