New Delhi, Feb 3 (UNI)The tenth edition of the NDTV Indian of the Year award 2015, in association with LIC, was held today at the Taj Palace here. The awards are not only about felicitating individual achievements but it is also salutes ideologies and identities that have made a significant impact in our lives. Flipkart co-founder Sachin Bansal, Snapdeal co-founder Kunal Bahl, Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma, Quikr founder Pranay Chulet, Zomato founders Deepinder Goyal and Pankaj Chaddah, and Inmobi co-founder Abhay Singhal received the Indian of the Year Award. The first woman Chairperson of the State Bank of India Arundhati Bhattacharya received the Transformational Leader of the Year Award. Sun Pharmaceuticals founder Dilip Shanghvi received the Business Leader of the Year Award.While visually impaired Srikanth Bolla, CEO of Hyderabad-based Bollant Industries, received the Entrepreneur of the Year award. Tennis champ Sania Mirza and Badminton player Saina Nehwal received the Sportsperson of the Year Award. Actor Siddharth along with IAS officers Amudha, Gajalakshmi, Gagandeep Singh Bedi and young boys Ashok, Arjun Murugan, Arjun Raman received the Outstanding Service to the Nation Award. Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone, who featured in Piku, Tamasha and Bajirao Mastani in 2015, received the Actor of the Year Award (Female). While Bollywood hearthrob Ranveer Singh, who featured in films like Dil Dhadakne Do and Bajirao Mastani, received the Entertainer of the Year Award. Irrfan Khan, who featured in films like Piku, Talvar and Jurassic World received the Actor of the Year Award (Male). The Lifetime Achievement Award went to Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan and cricketer Sourav Ganguly. Amitabh Bachchan (73) was awarded for defining and redefining superstardom. Industrialist Anand Mahindra, who presented him his award, said, "It is a misnomer. Lifetime achievement implies that his best work is behind him. Nothing could be further from the truth for this man." "I am a Hindi film fan first, then an actor. And if you are a Hindi film fan, you are an Amitabh Bachchan fan," said Ranveer, who joined Big B and his family on stage. Mr Bachchan was joined on stage by his wife Jaya, son Abhishek, daughter Shweta and son-in-law Nikhil Nanda. Abhishek Bachchan said, "It's weird to be an inheritor in a room full of start ups. He never wanted us to look at him as a superstar. For us, he has been the best father." "He had the talent to be the best," added Jaya Bachchan. Belinda Wright and Valmik Thapar received the Real Tiger Award. Art entrepreneur Neha Kirpal received the Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella received the Global Indian of the Year Award. Mr Nadella who could not attend the ceremony, send a video message. Pranav Dhanawade, who scored 1009 not out in an inter-school cricket tournament in Mumbai, received the Against All Odds Award.
