Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 7 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday said that a team of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been deployed to rescue the landslide victims at Pettimudi in Rajamalai of Idukki district.
Stating that another NDRF team, based in Thrissur, will also soon reach Idukki, the Chief Minister said "Police, Fire Force, Forest and Revenue officials have been instructed to join the rescue efforts."
He also said a 50-member strong special task force team of the Fire Force has been dispatched to Rajamalai for rescue operations. They have been equipped with night-time rescue activities.
Mr Vijayan said Red Alerts have been issued for six districts in the state today.
Pointing out that heavy rains have resulted fall of debris, soil erosion landslides, he requested people to listen the instructions of local officials.
