NCW to work together with BPR&D for cause of women inmates in prisons

New Delhi, Sep 30 (UNI) National Commission for Women has proposed to work together with Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D) to provide legal aid, rehabilitation and grievances redressal related to women inmates in prisons across the country.
NCW Chairperson Lalitha Kumaramangalam announced this while delivering the valedictory address at the two-day fifth National Conference of Heads of Prisons of States and UTs on Prison Reforms, here today.
On this occasion, Dr Meeran Borwankar, Director General, BPR&D, said rehabilitation issues of women inmates and their minor children were critical since as many as 4.2 per cent of total prisoners in the country were women.
