NCP meets Guv over worsening Marathwada drought

Aurangabad, Dec 4 (UNI) A delegation of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leaders, led by Satish Chavan, on Tuesday met Governor Vidyasagar Rao at Raj Bhavan here, to discuss the critical situation prevailing in the drought-hit region of Marathwada.
Mr Chavan, who represents the Marathwada Graduate Constituency in the State Legislative Council, said the continuous streak of drought occurring almost every year in the region has severely impacted the fertility of land and depreciated the production of crops.
Talking about the present calamitous situation, Mr Chavan said the economic condition of farmers is in tatters. Owing to the mounting loans, the ryots are resorting to suicide as the last method, to get rid of all the sufferings.
