nCoV: UP reports 1,248 fresh cases in 24 hrs, tally at 32,362

Lucknow, Jul 9 (UNI) A total of 1,196 fresh COVID-19 cases were reported in Uttar Pradesh in the past 24 hours, taking the tally to 32,362 on Thursday.

The death toll also reached 862 with 17 fresh fatalities.
For the first time the number of active patients crossed 10k in the state.

State Additional Chief Secretary, Health, Amit Mohan Prasad said here that the active cases in the state were 10,373 while the recovered patients were 21,127 including 796, who were released from hospital today.

There are 10,374 people in the isolation beds of the Covid hospitals and 3983 in the institutional quarantine.
Mr Prasad said, yesterday the labs in the state went for tests of 32,826 samples and the total tests done so far was 10,36,106.

Of the total tests done on Wednesday, 1964 tests were pool of 5 samples and 364 pools of 10 samples . In the pool of five, 260 were found positive and in the pool of 10 samples 74 were found positive.
Presently around 1.62 lakh health teams have covered 1.49 crore houses in the state to screen over 6.03 crore people of their health in 26,988 areas.

Mr Prasad said that Covid Help Desk was proving to be a major success in detecting the people with symptoms.
He said that till date 35,809 Covid Help Desk have been set up in government and private institutions in which 14,763 people have been detected with symptoms .

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the officials to prepare for daily 40,000 COVID-19 tests in the state.

Mr Prasad said that very soon 7 RTPCR labs would start working in the state at different district hospitals .

These new Covid testing labs have been set up at the district hospitals in Aligarh, Varanasi, Gonda, Bareilly, Moradabad, Mirzapur and at the Balrampur hospital in Lucknow .
