nCoV: 33 more deaths in Gujarat, tally rises to 1155

Gandhinagar, Jun 4 (UNI) Gujarat reported 33 more deaths and 492 new cases of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) infection in last 24 hours, taking the overall number of positive cases in the western state to 18,609 including the 1,155 deaths and 12,667 recoveries so far.
There were 455 new recoveries during the last 24 hours which was new high for any single day till today. 296 of these were in Ahmedabad, 34 in Vadodara and 53 in Surat. 28 of the deaths occurred in Ahmedabad and one each in Kutch,Botad, Gandhinagar, Valsad and Patan districts. With 291 more new cases, Ahmedabad has a total of the maximum 13,344 reported positive cases including the 938 deaths and 9,220 recoveries so far. All the new cases were locals, according to the official bulletin of the health department. A total 4,779 cases are active now of which 68 were on ventilators.
Notably, the first case of the Covid-19 infection in the state was detected on March 19 in Rajkot while the first death was reported on March 22 in Surat where 74 deaths have been reported so far. Ahmedabad has seen the maximum 938 deaths, Gandhinagar 15, Anand and Panchmahal 10 each,Bhavnagar 9, Vadodara 42, Patan 7, Aravalli, Mahesana 6 each, Banaskantha 5 Kheda, Kutch 4 each, Bharuch, Sabarkantha, Jamanagar, Rajkot 3 each Mahisagar, Porbandar, Valsad, Botad 2 each and one each in Junagadh Surendranagar, Navsari.
