Bhubaneswar, Sep 26 (UNI) Naval Ships and Aircraft’s kept ready to render immediate assistance as the cyclonic storm Gulab formed in the Bay of Bengal is expected to make landfall between north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha coast in the next 12 hours.
Two Naval ships are at sea with humanitarian assistance and disaster relief material and medical teams to render assistance in most affected areas.
Naval aircraft are kept ready at Naval air stations. INS Dega at Vishakhapatnam and INS Rajali near Chennai are on standby to undertake an aerial survey of the most affected areas, casualty evacuation and airdrop of relief materials as required.
The flood relief teams and diving teams of the Indian Navy are prepositioned at Odisha and Vishakhapatnam to render immediate assistance.
The Indian Navy is closely monitoring the movement of the cyclonic storm Headquarters Eastern Naval Command and Naval officers in charge Odisha area have carried out preparatory activities to combat the effects of the cyclone and is in constant liaison with the state administration for rendering assistance as required.
As many as 42 ODRAF teams, 24 NDRF teams and 103 Fire service teams are deployed in the districts likely to be most affected by the possible cyclone.
In view of the cyclone, the Railways have cancelled the services of 34 pairs of trains, diverted 28 trains, rescheduled 13 trains and regulated the services of 11 trains.
The fishermen were asked not to venture into the sea till September 27 and those who are in the sea were called back to the shore.

The met department advised the port authorities to hoist the danger signal no 7 at Gopalpur port, Danger Signal no 6 at Puri, and local cautionary signal No3 at Paradeep and Dhamra.
People in the affected area are asked to avoid movement.
