Entertainment » OtherPosted at: Dec 3 2016 6:46PM Navy capable of ensuring safety to seas to which economic growth is inextricably linked: Rear Admiral BeechaGandhinagar, Dec 3 (UNI) Indian Navy Rear Admiral Sandeep Beecha today said that the Indian Navy was fully capable of ensuring safety of our seas to which our economic growth was inextricably linked. Talking to the mediapersons here on the occasion of 46th Navy Day to commemorate the decisive action by the Indian Navy in the 1971 Indo-Pak War, Mr Beecha said, "As the country continues to progress and prosper based on the sustained economic growth, there is an increasing acceptance of the fact that the maritime domain is the prime facilitator of our economic growth". "Over 90 percent of our trade by volume and 77 percent of trade by value are transported over the seas. Over 97 percent of our energy needs in terms of oil is either imported from or produced at offshore fields. Consequently, our economic growth is inextricably linked to the seas.
