Naveen  announces  one crore cash award each  to four  women  hockey players from Odisha  for winning silver in Asian games

Bhubaneswar, Sep 01 (UNI) Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today congratulated the Indian Women Hockey team for winning silver medal at Asian games and announced cash award of Rs 1 crore to each of the four players from Odisha in the team.

The Indian Women team had played in the finals of the Asian games after a gap of 20 years.

In recognition of the achievement of the players from Odisha in the Indian Women Hockey team, the chief minister announced Rs 1 crore cash award each to Sunita Lakra, Namita Toppo, Nilima Minz and Deep Grace Ekka as per the revised policy of the government.

Mr Patnaik said Odisha is the proud sponsor of the Indian National Hockey team and is also the host of the World Men’s Hockey Cup 2018.

As per the revised policy the coach will get an award equivalent to 20 per cent of the rewards of the Asian games medal winners.

On Friday, the chief minister felicitated Ace sprinter Dutee Chand and handed over her a cheque of Rs 3 crore for her spectacular performance in the Asian Games winning two Silver medals in 100 meter and 200 meter events.

The chief minister had announced that the Odisha government will bear all the training and other expenses for Dutee Chand for Olympics.
