Mohali, Nov 10 (UNI) The Education sector of Punjab is passing through its toughest phase because of four major developments in the country, including in the states of Jammu & Kashmir and Bihar, leading to major colleges of the state wearing a deserted look, said President of the Punjab Unaided Colleges Association (PUCA) Anshu Kataria on Sunday.
In a statement issued here, Dr Kataria said after the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, thousands of students in the Valley could not approach the colleges for admissions in the 2019-20 session, due to ban on internet/mobile connection and curfew-like restrictions in their home state.
He said on an average, around 10,000 students from J&K used to take admission in various colleges of Punjab, especially in the Tricity of Chandigarh, Jalandhar and Amritsar, which was approachable and accessible for them.
