Nashik Road Accident: 13 dead, families of victims to get Rs 10 lakh compensation

Nashik, Aug 19 (UNI) A total of 13 persons, including three women, were reportedly killed owing to the collision between the state-run bus and a container vehicle in the Dhule district, an official release said.

The tragic road mishap occurred around 2300 hrs on Sunday when the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus plying between Aurangabad and Shahada collided head on with the container

vehicle coming from the opposite direction at the Dondaicha-Shahada road.

Owing to the fatal collision, 10 persons were killed on the spot while 3 succumbed to their injuries at the hospital, said MSRTC, and added that other 36 injured persons are under medical supervision.

Following the accident, the locals from nearby villages of the Dondaicha taluka, rushed to the spot so as to extend a helping hand to the victims.

The severity of the accident can be gauged by the fact that a crane was called to separate both the vehicles, which got entangled post crash.

Later, Maharashtra Tourism Minister Jayakumar Rawal reached the spot besides Additional Superintendent of Police Dr Raju Bhujbal and MSRTC senior official.

MSRTC has announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the families of the deceased.

Among those killed include bus driver Mukesh Nagin Patil and container driver Santosh Karbhari Dhomble.

The remaining 11 deceased have been identified as Bagwan Shakil Ahmed, Prerana Shriram Vanjari, Indris Nashir Maniyar, Hastik Anandrao Waghchoure, Manisha Mahesh Bagul, Somnath Dhondu Patil, Vrushali Deepak Bhavsar, Sourbha Shriram Vanjari, Suyog Bansilal Nahata, Tejas Jagdish Bhavsar, Sanjay Tarachand Alkari.
