Puducherry, Apr 30 (UNI) Welcoming the ruling of the Madurai High court that Puducherry Lt Governor do not have any right to interfere into the day to day affairs of the administration, Puducherry chief minister V Narayanasamy on Tuesday said that this is a ruling for the people of Puducherry.
The CM said a five judges constitution bench of the Supreme Court, in a case filed by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, ruled that the Lt Governor do not have any special powers and should cooperate with the elected government to ensure the development of the union territory.
It also ruled that the decision of the cabinet is final. Narayansamy said when he wrote to the union home ministry citing this judgement that it would be applicable for Puducherry, the union home ministry maintained that the Lt Governor is having powers in Pudcuherry.
