NAPM demands immediate release of financial assistance to marginalised workers

Shillong, July 24 (UNI) The National Alliance of People’s Movements (NAPM) has expressed solidarity with the ongoing protest staged by civil rights activist and Thma U Rangli Juki (TUR) leader Angela Rangad and demand the state government to immediately release the financial assistance promised to marginalized workers.
Rangad has staged a lone sit-in-protest for over the past four days in front of the gate where Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and his council of ministers sit demanding for the distribution of the Rs. 52 crores promised in March 2020 under the Chief Minister’s Relief Against Wage Loss (CRAWL).
“The financial assistance was intended to mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on unorganized sector workers like domestic workers, street vendors, and daily wager workers,” a statement issued by NAPM read,
