Naidu expunges PM's remarks in RS

New Delhi, Aug 10 (UNI) In a rare incident, Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu on Friday expunged certain remarks made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the House, while welcoming the election of Deputy Chair Harivansh that were found to be 'objectionable'.
Mr Modi's remarks, while referring to Opposition candidate for the post of House Deputy Chairman K Hariprasad were expunged, after several members made a demand in this regard, a Rajya Sabha Secretariat statement said.
Responding to the objections voiced in the House, Mr Naidu had on Thursday assured the Members that he would look into the matter and remove, if anything objectionable was found.
The Prime Minister's remarks came during the felicitation of Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh on his election with a considerable margin of votes in the House on Thursday.
Mr Hariprasad had objected to Mr Modi's remarks, saying that it was unfortunate that the Prime Minister had lowered the dignity of the House.
