Kohima Dec 06 (UNI) The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has informed that the Union Home minister Amit Shah has assured the Nagaland delegation that the draft bill of the Citizen Amendment Bill (CAB) will be sent to Nagaland for further consultation.
In a press statement issued by NPCC President K. Therie said there were no differences between the delegates from Nagaland that met Union Home Minister Amit Shah on December 3 in Assam House at Delhi in connection to the Citizenship Amendment Bill. The Nagaland delegates who met Shah on CAB was comprised of Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), BJP, Naga Peoples Front (NPF), Congress, All Nagaland Gaon Burhas Association (ANGBA), Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC), Eastern Nagaland Peoples Organisation (ENPO) and Naga Students’ Federation (NSF). Before meeting the Union Minister, the Nagaland delegates unanimously decided to appeal to exempt Nagaland from the purview of CAB. Excepting Congress, every one spoke demanding exemption, including Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Leader of Opposition T R Zeliang. Congress did not speak in the meeting as it was unanimous on the demand to exempt Nagaland from the purview of CAB. Therie said “it was shocking that Union Home Minister was speaking only in Hindi. I don’t know whether the demand submitted by the Nagaland delegates was understood by him.”
